Welcome Note by the program Director
The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens is a research University that builds on foundations which were laid over 185 years ago. It has attained recognition as an Institution of educational and scientific excellence and as a source of intellectual wealth for our country. The School of Medicine was also founded in 1837 and was the first of its kind in the Balkans and the Eastern Mediterranean.
The English Medical Degree program has been founded under the 4692/2020 Greek Law and it has been accredited by the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education. The best evidence of its success is that in September 2022 we welcomed 40 students from 11 countries worldwide, who joined a community of more than 7,000 international students who study at the NKUA. It is for us an honor, but also a great responsibility. Everyone at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens works hard to maintain its current standing, which is reflected in various international University ranking classifications.
Dear All,
Your joining our University and the English Medical Degree program comes with a lot of expectations on your part, your parents and friends. All of us want to see you succeed in your studies. I encourage you to enrich yours and other students' experience. Be on the lookout for new knowledge and everything that a foreign, historic University and a cultural city have to offer. The first months may be demanding; you will find yourselves in a foreign country, study here, and start getting accustomed to a new culture. But by actively participating in our academic community, you will meet new people, learn things, and gain personal experiences you will keep for the rest of your lives. But it is not only you that will benefit from all the above; every time you return home for the holidays, you will bring a whole new set of experiences and perspectives to your family and friends.
We hope our joint efforts will gain momentum in the years to come, for the benefit of research, education, and for our graduates’ personal and professional success.
