CURRENT APPOINTMENT: Professor of Clinical Biochemistry- Medical Chemistry, Head of the Dept. of Clinical Biochemistry, “ATTIKO” University Hospital, Medical School, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), Greece.
TEACHING ACTIVITIES: Medical Chemistry, Biochemistry and Clinical Chemistry in undergraduate medical students. In postgraduate courses leading to a Master of Science (MSc.) degree, teaching of “Clinical Chemistry”, “Clinical Biochemistry-Molecular Diagnostics”, “Molecular Medical Biopathology” in the Dept. of Chemistry and Dept of Biology of NKUA, and in the Dept. of Microbiology in Medical School of NKUA respectively. Supervision of 22 PhD thesis (completed), 2 PhD thesis (underway), 8 MSc thesis (completed) and 2 Bachelor thesis (completed). Supervision of 2 Post-doctoral studies.
MAIN RESEARCH INTERESTS: 1)The role of steroid hormones and steroid receptors in human health and disease, 2) development of methods for steroid determination in blood, such as GC/MS and LC-MS/MS 3) the glucocorticoid receptor-mitochondria interaction and 4) screening of synthetic/natural compounds for their estrogenic/antiestrogenic action, anti-inflammatory action on various cellular systems, such as breast cancer cells, prostate cancer cells, osteoblasts, endometrial cells, endothelial cells, peripheral blood mononuclear cells, by use of molecular biology techniques.

PUBLICATIONS: In International journals, 85 full text articles n PubMed, ISI Web of Science results, and Scopus (1st and last senior author in 70 of the 85 full articles). I.F: 400, Citations:4000 (Personal citations1000), h index: 37. Chapters in International textbooks (6), and numerous oral and poster presentations in international and Greek conferences.
