Biology I , Biology II - Genetics

Aristides Eliopoulos is Professor and Head of the Department of Biology at the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), School of Medicine. He performed his PhD at the National Hellenic Research Foundation (Athens) in partnership with the University of Crete Medical School and his postdoctoral training in the UK and the US working on tumor viruses and signal transduction pathways in malignancy. From 2000 to 2005, Dr Eliopoulos led a research group at the University of Birmingham Institute for Cancer Studies (Birmingham, UK) supported by a prestigious MRC Career Development Award, followed by faculty appointment at the University of Crete Medical School where he was promoted to full Professor of Molecular and Cellular Biology in 2012. In 2017 he was elected Professor at NKUA, School of Medicine.

In addition to an intense research portfolio, Professor Eliopoulos teaches Biology and Genetics to undergraduate medical students and has contributed to the translation of a number of biology textbooks in Greek. He also teaches various aspects of Cancer Biology in doctoral programmes of NKUA, the University of Crete and the Democritus University of Thrace and is the coordinator of the e-learning course “Application of Genetics in Precision Nutrition” of NKUA.
