Students from the School of Medicine, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), participating in the elective course Biology and Applications of Regenerative Medicine, had the opportunity to visit the Hellenic Cord Blood Bank at the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens (BRFAA) on May 8 and 15, 2025.

Led by Dr. Panagiotis Mallis, students were introduced to state-of-the-art procedures in a GMP-compliant biobank—from gowning and stem cell processing to cryopreservation and digital sample tracking. The visit offered an in-depth look into how regenerative medicine is applied in real clinical laboratory settings.

We thank Professor Maria Roubelakis, Course Director, and Mrs. Nikoletta Millioni for organizing this unique academic experience.

Another step forward in preparing tomorrow’s physicians through hands-on exposure to cutting-edge biomedical practices.
