On May 7, we had the honor of hosting Dr. Konstantinos Linos, Associate Attending at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (NY) and proud alumnus of the NKUA School of Medicine, for an insightful lecture titled:

“Real Life, Real Ethics: Lessons Beyond the Textbook”

With both in-person attendance and strong online participation via Webex, the lecture inspired students and faculty through personal stories, ethical dilemmas, and invaluable career reflections.

Key takeaways from Dr. Linos’ talk included:

  • Be open to change – shifting from Emergency Medicine to Pathology redefined his path.
  • Think globally, start locally – a journey from Athens to New York via Cambridge.
  • Honor your beginnings – the foundation laid at NKUA was essential to his growth.
  • Ethics in practice – professionalism goes beyond clinical skill, requiring reflection, empathy, and integrity.

We thank Prof Linos for reminding us that success isn’t always linear, but values and resilience light the way.

The speaker was introduced by Yanni Hatzaras, NKUA Associate Professor of Surgery. Professor Linos was welcomed by the Dean of NKUA School of Medicine, Professor Nikos Arkadopoulos.
