Held in the historic Great Hall of the University of Athens, the ceremony marked an important milestone in the academic and professional journey of our students. Professors, administrative staff, parents, and relatives joined together to celebrate this symbolic occasion, which represents the formal introduction of students to the medical profession and the values it embodies.

The ceremony featured opening remarks by members of the University’s leadership, who shared words of inspiration and encouragement:

  • Professor Nikolaos Arkadopoulos, Program Director and Dean of the School of Medicine: “This is the first step in a lifelong journey of responsibility, compassion, and excellence.”

  • Professor Sophia Papaioannou, Vice-Rector of Academic Affairs & International Relations: “Today, you don the white coat — a symbol of knowledge, service, and integrity.”

  • Professor Pagona Lagiou, Dean of the School of Health Sciences: “Medicine is more than science — it is a calling to serve humanity with dedication and empathy.”

The White Coat Ceremony is a cherished tradition in medical schools worldwide, highlighting the values of professionalism, responsibility, and dedication to patient care. For our students, this moment signifies the beginning of a demanding yet rewarding path in Medicine.
